This mesmerizing 1999 masterpiece from French director Claire Denis (whose new film Bastards also screens at IFF Panama) transports us to Djibouti, and the world of the French Foreign Legion. Beau Travail exalts in masculine beauty and discipline, making a sort of ballet out of calisthenics, while slowly unveiling a tale of repressed desire.
