Andrea Pallaoro was born in Trento, Italy. He studied at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts and at the California Institute of the Arts. He directed the short film Wunderkammer (08). Medeas (13) is his feature debut.
An exquisitely rendered familial drama, Medeas transports us to what seems a bucolic idyll of rolling amber hills, where children play hide and seek at dusk and laundry dries in the sun. But underneath this tranquil surface tensions slowly snake up through the soil as this financially strapped California farming clan begins to fall dramatically apart.
